There is no single right answer: it depends on your dog and your walks. Here is how to choose, and why many dogs wear both.
A collar is great when
- Your dog walks calmly on a loose leash.
- You want something that stays on all day, with the ID-Tag always there.
- You want it on and off in a second: Collar QUICK has a quick-release buckle.
- You want your dog's name on it: Collar MONO carries Collar-ID, the name engraved on the strap.
A harness is great when
- Your dog pulls. A harness spreads the pull across the chest instead of the neck.
- Your dog is small, or has a short nose or a delicate neck.
- Your dog is a puppy still learning to walk on the leash.
- You go running, hiking or on long walks, where you want more control.
Why many dogs wear both
The collar stays on all day and holds the ID-Tag. The harness goes on for the walk, and the leash clips to the harness. Harness QUICK has two D-rings: clip the leash through both, and the harness stays closed even if the buckle opens.
Getting the fit right
Whatever you pick, fit matters more than type. Two fingers should fit flat under the collar or the harness straps. Our guide How to measure your dog shows where to put the tape.
Match them
Collar QUICK and Harness QUICK use the same rubber-tracer webbing, the same buckle and the same colors, so they match. Add a Leash FLEX in the same color, or take a KIT and get a free piece.
